In a bizarre partnership that breaks usual predictions, the game developer has revealed an digital partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing free extra story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Revealed

According to the official announcement, "An unusual encounter pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where whispers of forbidden practices and terrifying transformations echo through the obscurity." The storyline features a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a secret cult.

The mission concentrates on "strange experiments and a terrifying enemy" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Locations and Changes

The preview features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview ends with a dramatic moment showing a character, presumably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Items and Extra Content

Players who successfully complete the quest will receive an special katana together with numerous items secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Exclusive arms
• Survey Corps mount

Third Free Story Content

This release also introduces the game's third no-cost story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic techniques: Naoe introduces a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also features a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime properties. The series formerly featured a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
