Both Deceased Students Named in Brown University Incident as Law Enforcement Continue Search for Gunman.

The pair of scholars who were killed in Saturday’s mass shooting on the university campus were honored at the start of the week – amid a widespread hunt for their shooter persisted following the discharge by local law enforcement of the sole person detained in connection in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was remembered as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, according to the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which offered condolences for her at a service on Sunday.

She served as vice-president of Brown’s chapter of the campus GOP group, according to the organization. Karoline Leavitt also shared words of sorrow online, saying in part: “It's indescribable. Keeping in mind her family and friends, especially her parents.”

An International Student

The second fatality was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the renowned school, family members said.

Umurzokov’s identity was officially acknowledged by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He had big dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon and assisting patients,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a tribute.

What Happened

An additional nine individuals were hurt in the weekend shooting in the engineering department of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Officials stated late Sunday that a 24-year-man taken into custody in a search at a hotel about around 27 kilometers from the campus earlier in the day was being released.

Cook was remembered at a memorial in Birmingham on Sunday. A reverend stated, “She was an incredible, grounded, faithful bright light not only here growing up... but at the university she was a radiant presence in that specific location as well.”

A group leader, Martin Bertao, posted a statement from the club. “She was famed for her fearless, heroic, and gentle spirit as she worked for her branch and peers,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by the passing of Umurzokov in a tribute. “We extend our sincere condolences to his relatives, companions, and peers and mourn the loss of his promising future.”
