The British government is prepared to move forward with employing the total value of seized Russia's holdings to aid the Ukrainian defense operations, PM Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a joint statement, the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany stated that this coordinated action would heighten pressure on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and persuade Moscow to engage in negotiations.

They clarified that the initiative would be implemented in tight collaboration with the US.

UK penalties have blocked more than £25bn of Russian resources since Moscow began its comprehensive attack against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. Yet, up to this point, money allocated to Ukraine using Russian assets had solely been sourced from earnings and returns accrued on them.

Sir Keir assured President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were united in their desire to drive progress toward utilizing the full value of the immobilized Russian sovereign holdings to halt hostilities.

He added that more restrictions over the next period would heighten the tension on the Russian government.

This statement follows European leaders met in Copenhagen last week to debate employing immobilized Russia's assets for a €140bn loan to the Ukrainian nation.

Recently, US President Donald Trump encouraged international partners to take or otherwise use frozen Russia's holdings, as reported by news outlets.

The worth of seized Russia's assets in the European Union is calculated to be nearly €211bn.

President Zelensky encourages UK's Sir Keir Starmer to join the PURL program

Russia launched extensive missile and drone strikes all over Ukraine on recently, causing power cuts in many areas of Kyiv, Kyiv, and several other zones.

While commending the Britain's consistent assistance for the Ukrainian government, he remarked it should indicate firmly that it would engage in the system, as well as apply more sanctions on Moscow.
