New Particulars Come to Light Concerning the Discovery of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Bodies
Recent details have emerged about the tragic deaths of renowned director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Brentwood, Los Angeles property on Sunday.
A Alarm
According to a report quoting a person close to the family, a practitioner arriving for an session first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the house. The practitioner then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.
Upon entering the residence, Romy found her father's body. Reports state she then fled the house in anguish, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had gone with her then dialed 911. Following this, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Developments
The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, along with the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now detained without bail.
Disputed Reports
The confidential informant questioned several previously reported details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the estate, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that moment.
Additionally disputed published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's actions in the weeks leading up to the incident. The source claimed the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction also extends to descriptions of reportedly "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a event hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. While the source stated they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they said that claims of a "heated argument" between the two were not correct.
Investigation Timeline
Per law enforcement sources, the coroner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some media reports noted the state of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for some hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the scene. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, said his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
