The Renowned Musician Calls On Backing to Get Together for Palestine Song to UK Christmas No 1.
A campaign is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The effort hopes to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Surprise Victory"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely let down if it doesn't manage to, Christmas singles are a thing unto themselves.”
Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.
“It has a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a respectful existence that we merit as a people.”
Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians
The track was produced following a large-scale benefit event held in September. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the piece was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.
The diverse array of artists appearing on Lullaby includes a group of prominent voices from the music world. All participated in the September show, which managed to collect a significant sum for humanitarian aid.
Production and Release
Lullaby was produced by a trio of music creators. The song blends a fusion of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.
The team running the project have emphasized that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.
“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a figure said. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Naturally, the higher the total, the greater the impact. It all goes out to those in need in Gaza.”
The situation in the region was characterized as its widespread damage, with a vast majority of buildings described as in ruins or severely impacted.
“Against that backdrop, a couple of million doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is above all raising awareness for this issue and proving that another narrative exists.”
The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
