NFL 2025 season: Week six
Live coverage includes live text for the weekend matchups via multiple platforms, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Also, audio coverage can be heard on select stations covering another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).
It's week six of the football calendar , after last week's talk regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both surrendered their unbeaten records.
Striking in those games were the number of penalties both committed. Philadelphia did so in key moments so they essentially beat themselves after leading 17-3 going into the final quarter against Denver, who play in London this weekend.
However it was positive to see that Denver's QB Bo Nix was able to have that deficit and then direct three scoring drives on three possessions during the final period, to win the game by four points.
The Broncos boast the top defender in CB their star corner. They are number one in goal-line defense, whereas Philadelphia lead the league in red zone offence, and Denver prevailed in that battle.
They had the Eagles' number regarding simulated pressure. They weren't always sending extra defenders but they could position two linebackers in the interior before drop them out and send a slot defender off the edge.
At the start of the season, we said during a show how Denver might emerge as the current year's dark horses. They finished the previous year strongly and did a good job in continuing that momentum.
Are the Denver Broncos this season's underdog story?
Recently acquired tight end Evan Engram has excelled significantly and new RB their rusher is a guy the team trusts. He now ranks 5th in the NFL in ground gains (402) and tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).
It's impressive how head coach the Broncos' leader has "RUN IT!" prominently of his playcall sheet.
This demonstrates that Denver are a squad aiming to prioritize the run, since you can achieve much based on that approach. It reduces down the pass rush while maintains in positive down and distances.
It's also benefited quarterback the young passer, who came the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, throwing 29 TDs – just behind a star QB in rookie records (31 in 2020).
Other elite QBs possess the arm strength to throw anywhere, but they don't move the mobility as Nix. He has incredible passing ability, which is different, plus he is so athletic.
His strengths include his mobility, being able to pass while moving, as well as using varied release points to deliver the pass as he moves outside protection, the bootlegs. He is able to throw that layered pass over the middle or over the corner.
As a rookie QB, aged 25, he displays great poise under pressure and isn't bothered by extra rushers. He tries to evade being tackled as much as possible and is able throw in tight spots. He has sharp intelligence and remains very decisive.
When you constantly rush it eats up the clock and makes the opponent to stay on the field extended periods, and if you've got a mobile QB the defence has to defend the field downfield and horizontally. It can be exhausting.
The quarterback has pushed back at Payton on the sideline sometimes and I think Payton appreciates that attitude, that he's such a competitor. I think it's fun for the coach to have a young quarterback that is similar to play-dough. He can really develop him how he desires to build it. I believe it's a special experience for him.
Payton has won a Super Bowl and has surpassed a legend for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen it all. I think the achievements Denver are experiencing offensively is largely down to his guidance, his play-calling, his game sense – and the pairing with the QB helps make him into who he is.
You wouldn't want a more qualified person guiding you, to assist you during difficult moments and build self-belief.
I believe in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But are they good enough to face a top squad at full strength? Because that wasn't a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia last Sunday.
Right now, I don't think Denver are incredible. They're performing above average, that's a good place to be in their division. All they need to do is maintain this path.
They're really good at embracing their forte, that is the ground game, and this is exactly what they should do against the New York Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.
New York have allowed 140 yards on the ground each contest (among the worst), five ground scores this season (10th worst), and they're the only team yet to win any game.
Since the league began tracking turnovers decades ago, this team are the first team to be without any turnovers through five games, this is surprising when you think that the head coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator with another team.
The Chiefs' QB says Kansas City are off to a poor start following a recent loss by the Jaguars.
After this Sunday's game, the Broncos face a manageable slate until their bye (in week twelve) - the Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.
In their division, the Chiefs are 2-3 and the Broncos are even with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 so they could make a run at leading the division.
This hinges upon which form Kansas City shows up they face since the Broncos {beat|def
